Funded Partner Agencies

The United Way of Greenbrier Valley is partners with 29 agencies that serve the local community in a variety of ways. These partner agencies help address needs related to education, financial stability, health, and basic needs, ensuring that residents have access to the services and resources that they require. Here's an overview of our wonderful partner agencies and their functions, along with the impact they have on the Greenbrier Valley community:

Alderson Hospitality House provides support for those incarcerated at the Alderson Federal Prison Camp, their families, and friends by providing temporary lodging, meals, transportation, emotional support and education. (Happy Food, Healthy Families)

Appalachian Service Project is a Christian ministry open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia. (Home Repair and Replacement)

Bethlehem Farm is a nonprofit organization in Appalachia that transforms lives through service with the local community, and the teaching of sustainable practices. They invite volunteers to live out the cornerstones of service, community, simplicity, and reflection. (Repairing Homes, Renewing Communities)

Carnegie Hall (Lewisburg) is committed to cultivating an appreciation for creativity and excellence in the arts. Carnegie Hall presents a broad and diverse range of programs that engage, entertain, and educate people of all ages and backgrounds and works to preserve the historic significance of the Hall. Catholic Charities West Virginia provides programs and services to assist the poor and vulnerable in all 55 counties of West Virginia; including: food assistance, emergency financial services, disaster relief, and child care. (Emergency Assistance Program)

CYAC / The Child and Youth Advocacy Center strives to bring justice, hope, and healing to children and families who are victims of abuse in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas Counties. (Prevention and Education)

Children's Home Society WV's mission is to promote the well-being of children by focusing on helping them find permanent families, providing protection and nurturing, and strengthening and preserving families. (Support for The Independent Living Program's Young Adults)

Communities in Schools’ mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. They further facilitate the basic needs of a child. (Integrated Student Supports)

Davis Stuart provides therapeutic residential care to ages 12 through 18, in a supervised setting. Their goal is to reunify a youth with his or her family, when possible, or give them the life skills to enter into independence. (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Program)

The Family Refuge Center is dedicated to combating domestic violence and sexual assault in Greenbrier, Pocahontas, & Mercer Counties. Their outreach programs include: crisis intervention and support services, empowering survivors to take control of their lives and encourage hope, healing, and a path forward. Fruits of Labor is a cafe, bakery, nationally certified culinary & ag training center in West Virginia, supporting adults recovering from addiction. (The Seed Project)

Gateway Industries is a private non-profit Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP), providing employment and vocational services to individuals presented with a variety of physical, cognitive, and/or psychiatric disabilities, within the tri-county area. (Emergency Assistance for Participants)

God's Way Home's mission is to help men in our area suffering from drug and alcohol addiction by teaching them who Jesus Christ is and what he has done for them to set them free in his name and through his blood. As well as, how to become effective and productive members of society. (Financial Peace University and Workforce Readiness)

Greenbrier Committee on Aging provides assistance to the elderly having difficulty with basic household chores, such as, meal preparation, dish washing, changing bedding, household cleaning, and laundry. (Senior Nutrition)

Greenbrier Valley Hellbenders Youth Mountain Bike Team is here to get more kids on bikes and create a fun, inclusive space where young riders can grow as athletes and as people. We use mountain biking to build confidence, encourage teamwork, and foster a lifelong love for the outdoors all while having a great time on the trail. Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s mission is to create live, professional quality performances in West Virginia and to enlighten, enrich, and enliven creative arts of our region. (Youth Education Program)

High Rocks Education Corporation's mission is to educate, empower, and inspire young people in West Virginia. They believe that all people are gifted and that by investing in young people, they are creating a strong, vibrant, participatory community for us all. They want to provide pathways out of poverty for the youth, giving them viable options for success in their home communities and abroad.  (The Hub)

Kanawha HospiceCare - Greenbrier is West Virginia’s oldest and largest provider of hospice, palliative and bereavement services. Their mission is to provide compassionate care and affirm life through hospice, palliative and other supportive care services to the patients, families and communities that they serve. Monroe Coalition for Children and Families mission is to facilitate establishment of a system of prevention, education, and early intervention activities aimed at empowering families, children, and all at risk members of our community to reach their highest potential. Monroe County Early Childhood Association  will provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and responsive environment for all children regardless of race, national origin, sex, age, or disability. The center is committed to supporting the development of all children and respecting their individual differences while helping children learn and work cooperatively, and promoting health, self-worth, competence, and self-awareness. Northern Greenbrier Latchkey Kids' mission is to provide quality after-school care to Frankford Elementary School students while working toward a safe, healthy environment for children. (Childcare Scholarships)

Pocahontas County Family Resource Network is a community-based organization in Marlinton, WV, that provides outreach services. (Warming Hands and Hearts) 

Pocahontas County Senior Citizens' mission is to alleviate senior hunger and isolation and promote life, health, honor, and dignity for the aging and disabled of Pocahontas County by providing community focal points and reaching out to the homebound seniors. (Meals on Wheels)

Reigning Warriors utilizes horses to heal American heroes, by providing hands-on support for our service men and women and first responders, through specific equine-assisted programs, that provide training in equine care, management, groundwork, and horseback riding. (Equine Therapy Scholarships)

Renick Community Center exists to serve and empower people in our communities by providing access to essential resources, health and wellness programs, and opportunities for connection, education, and growth. Through initiatives such as food and non-food support, senior wellness programming, youth engagement, and community events, RCC strives to strengthen individuals and families while fostering a more resilient and connected community. Shepherd’s Center of Greenbrier Valley is an interfaith ministry that seeks to sustain mature adults to live independently by providing opportunities for lifelong learning, community service, caring relationships, and spiritual growth. (Gwen's Meals)

The Marvel Center engages the Meadow River Valley community in creating safe, nurturing relationships that enable children and families to learn and grow through education, healthy nutrition, and physical activities. (MARVEL Meal Program)

The Salvation Army of Beckley is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Wellspring WV serves marginalized Appalachians by meeting basic needs and providing a safe space where they can access hope through various programs and events. (Choice Food Pantry)
