United Way of Greenbrier Valley brings people and organizations together to strengthen our region and improve lives across Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties. We believe lasting community change happens when individuals, nonprofits, leaders, volunteers, and partners unite around shared goals and take collective action.
We serve as a connector, convener, and catalyst, helping align resources, people, and ideas to address our community’s most pressing challenges. Through collaboration, local leadership, and a focus on long-term impact, we work to build a healthier, more resilient Greenbrier Valley where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

What We Do
Unite the community around shared goals
We bring together nonprofits, businesses, civic leaders, volunteers, and residents to work collectively on issues that affect us all, including health, education, financial stability, and basic needs. By aligning efforts, we help ensure progress is coordinated and meaningful.
Strengthen the nonprofit network
We support local nonprofit organizations that are closest to community needs. Through funding, partnership, and capacity-building, we help organizations work more effectively and sustainably, strengthening the overall safety net in our region.
Connect volunteers to meaningful opportunities
Volunteers are central to our work. We connect people with opportunities to give their time, skills, and energy in ways that make a real difference, strengthening both programs and community relationships.
Advance collective impact
Complex challenges require shared solutions. We foster collaboration across organizations and sectors, encouraging coordinated strategies and long-term approaches that no single organization could achieve alone.
Respond to emerging needs
When new challenges arise, we help coordinate responses, share timely information, and connect people to essential resources. Our role allows us to adapt quickly and support community-wide efforts in times of need.
Use data and community insight to guide action
We listen to community voices and use local data to understand gaps, measure progress, and inform priorities. This ensures our work, and the work of our partners, is grounded in what will have the greatest impact.
