Partner Agency Information

The United Way of the Greenbrier Valley works to strengthen the nonprofit sector by investing in local programs that align with the organization's mission and four impact areas. Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, including schools and government agencies, that serves Greenbrier, Monroe, and/ or Pocahontas Counties is eligible to apply for funding. 

What it means to be a United Way Partner

  1. Mission alignment
    1. Programs must align with one of UWGBV’s community impact areas: youth opportunity, healthy community, financial security, community resiliency
    2. Must demonstrate a commitment to serving Greenbrier, Pocahontas, and/ or Monroe counties
  2. Active Participation in United Way initiatives
    1. Engage in United Way events by volunteering, attending Quarterly Partner Breakfasts, and sharing relevant UW information on social media and with the community
    2. Promote the partnership by displaying logo on website and participating in marketing and outreach efforts 
    3. Collaborate with partner agency network to ensure decrease in duplicated resources
    4. Work together with other nonprofits to help solve local challenges and communicate those findings with UWGBV to guide in support and resources
  3. Accountability and Reporting
    1. Submit midterm report, final report, and participate in fall site visits in a timely manner
    2. Use funding as specified in the grant to maximize community benefit and illustrate this in reporting
      1. Ensure funding is spent and final report is submitted before reapplying for future funding cycles
    3. Have engaged board that provides active oversight and leadership
  4. Ethical and Financial Responsibility
    1. Maintain 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in good standing
    2. Adhere to ethical fundraising and financial management practices compliant with state and federal laws and regulations

Please note that while we are in a transition period, these documents are strongly encouraged but in future funding years, they will be required with your application.

When applying, please be prepared to submit one of the following: 

Audit
  • A full audit should be submitted with an application if your annual revenue is over $500,000. This should cover a period ending no more than 18 months before January 2026
Audit or Fiscal Review
  • An audit OR Fiscal Review should be submitted if total revenue is between $250,000 and $500,000
  • This should be a full audit, as mentioned above, or a fiscal review performed by a CPA examining organizations financial statements
Certification of Internal Controls
  • A Certification of Internal Controls should be submitted if total revenue is below $250,000 
  • Written Statement by organization's leadership confirming financial controls are in place to ensure proper management of funds. This document should be signed by the Executive Director and a member of board, ideally board Chair or President.

Proposed Budget Template - Please use this template when submitting the program budget with your application

  • Nonprofit Programs should align with one of four impact areas - youth opportunity, healthy community, financial security, community resiliency
  • Demonstrate strong board governance and participation, able to submit financial documentation as specified above
  • Applications should include a well defined framework with specific performance metrics to track progress and outcomes  
  • Programs must demonstrate a clear link between donor investment and tangible improvements in community conditions
  • Funding priority will be given to agencies that address clearly demonstrated human needs, offer programs of sufficient quality and scope to support current and proposed funding levels, and maintain service hours that are accessible to the populations they serve
  • Awards most commonly range between $5,000 - $15,000

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Do not leave any blanks; enter N/A if not applicable.

Be sure to click "SAVE DRAFT" frequently, you will be able to return and work on the application as time permits.

Be sure to click "SUBMIT" when completed, you will not be able to access completed submission, but you will be sent a copy of your submission.

Applications open February 12, 2026 and are due by April 7, 2026 at 5 pm.
